Family Criticism: Trudeau’s “Permanent Damage” to Canada

Kyle Kemper, half-brother of outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, has delivered a blistering critique of his sibling’s leadership during an appearance on “Prime Time with Alex Stein.” When asked if Trudeau had done permanent damage to Canada, Kemper didn’t hesitate: “Oh, I think so. He was the spokesperson, leading the script, being the lead actor in the, you know, multi-trillion dollars of wealth transfer from sovereign Canadians into moving up the chain.” This rare familial criticism comes as Trudeau recently announced his resignation after nearly a decade in power.

Kemper has been particularly vocal about Trudeau’s handling of the Canadian trucker protests against COVID-19 restrictions. “They have serious questions around the safety of our children’s future and what Canada is going to become,” Kemper told GB News in a previous interview. The strained relationship between the half-brothers has been evident for years, with Kemper acknowledging, “They say you can pick your friends but you can’t pick your family… over the last decade we’ve drifted apart philosophically and politically.”

The Trucker Protests and Government Response

Kemper has been an outspoken defender of the Canadian trucker convoy that protested against COVID-19 mandates, describing it as a unifying force against what he calls “a house of cards of lies.” The protests gained international attention when Ottawa’s mayor declared a state of emergency, and the Trudeau government responded with exceptional measures. Kemper specifically criticized his brother’s decision to freeze bank accounts and suspend licenses of protesters, actions he views as government overreach against legitimate political expression.

The “freedom truck convoy” garnered substantial support internationally, including from prominent U.S. Republicans and former President Donald Trump, who criticized Trudeau’s handling of COVID-19 mandates. While Ontario Premier Doug Ford referred to the situation in Ottawa as an “occupation,” Kemper presented a different perspective, highlighting what he saw as the protest’s positive effects, including cleaner streets and reduced crime in protest areas.

Political Engagement Beyond Canada

Far from limiting his political involvement to criticizing his brother, Kemper has actively engaged in American politics. He recently attended Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Senate confirmation hearing for Secretary of Health and Human Services, sporting a green “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) hat. Kemper had previously worked for Kennedy’s presidential campaign before switching allegiance to Donald Trump after Kennedy backed the former president. “The remedy known as Kennedy has officially entered the senate chamber!” Kemper posted during the hearing.

Kemper’s political stance reflects his cynicism about the Canadian political system, which he describes as lacking authentic representation. “The way that the politics works, it’s literally just, you say ‘up,’ I say ‘down,’ game,” he explained to Alex Stein. “It is an affront to the intelligence of all Canadians. It is no longer truly representative.” This perspective appears to have driven his international political engagement, as he searches for alternatives to what he views as a fundamentally flawed Canadian system.
